Dental implants

Dental implants are the best solution to replace missing teeth.

The dental implant is a screw, usually made of titanium or zirconium, which is implanted in the jaw through a small surgery. It is the first component that is placed in the mouth when a natural tooth is to be replaced. Its mission is to act as the root of the crown that will replace the original tooth.

Implants should always be done in 2 stages, since the implant should be left to osseo-integrate for about 4 to 6 months before the final crown is placed. However, so that the patient can recover his smile from day 1, we can place a temporary crown during the healing time. This is known as immediate loading.

Implants allow us to recover from a single piece to multiple pieces. In this case, it is not always necessary to have one implant per tooth to be replaced. For example, we can use 2 implants to make a bridge and recover 3 pieces.

Frequently asked questions about implants:

Does it hurt?

For small cases up to 4 implants, the discomfort is minimal, and can be managed with local anesthesia. For larger surgeries we recommend sedation for patient comfort.

How long does it take?

It depends on the number of implants and complexity. In Dr. Uribe's expert hands, a single implant surgery can take as little as 20 minutes.

How long does it last?

Under ideal conditions they last a long time, even a lifetime.

Benefits of dental implants:

Full-arch implant-based reconstruction

All-on-4, All-on-6 y All-on-10

A full arch reconstruction allows us to replace a complete set of upper or lower teeth, attaching a permanent denture to as few as 4 implants. This means not only regaining the function of your teeth (think of eating normally again!), but also the esthetics. No more removable dentures. The minimum we need to support a fixed prosthesis is 4 implants (All-on-4). The number of additional implants we will need will depend on the patient, the state of the bone and the restorative material, among others. Current bone grafting techniques make almost everyone a candidate for dental implants and full arch restorations. All-on-4 is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We offer many options starting as low as $5000 per arch.

Here is a list of why, if you can, you should avoid wearing dentures:

Porcelain and zirconium rehabilitation: Crowns and Veneers

What are Coronas?

Crowns allow the recovery of teeth that, although they have many problems, still have a root in good condition. Although dental implants are the best option to recover lost teeth, natural teeth will always be better than implants, so it is important to try to keep them whenever possible. Crowns often allow us to extend the life of the natural tooth.

What are veneers?

Veneers are an esthetic procedure. It is a very thin veneer (from 0.3mm) that is placed on the front of the tooth and allows changing the shape and color of a tooth. Since it requires very little manipulation of the tooth, it is considered a minimally invasive treatment. It is important to mention however that veneers are an irreversible treatment, so it is important to discuss with the Dr. the suitability of this treatment in each case.
