Dental implants
Dental implants are the best solution to replace missing teeth.
The dental implant is a screw, usually made of titanium or zirconium, which is implanted in the jaw through a small surgery. It is the first component that is placed in the mouth when a natural tooth is to be replaced. Its mission is to act as the root of the crown that will replace the original tooth.
Implants should always be done in 2 stages, since the implant should be left to osseo-integrate for about 4 to 6 months before the final crown is placed. However, so that the patient can recover his smile from day 1, we can place a temporary crown during the healing time. This is known as immediate loading.
Implants allow us to recover from a single piece to multiple pieces. In this case, it is not always necessary to have one implant per tooth to be replaced. For example, we can use 2 implants to make a bridge and recover 3 pieces.

Frequently asked questions about implants:
For small cases up to 4 implants, the discomfort is minimal, and can be managed with local anesthesia. For larger surgeries we recommend sedation for patient comfort.
It depends on the number of implants and complexity. In Dr. Uribe's expert hands, a single implant surgery can take as little as 20 minutes.
Under ideal conditions they last a long time, even a lifetime.
Benefits of dental implants:
- They look and behave like a natural tooth.
- Protect bone and adjacent teeth
- Enable good hygiene
Full-arch implant-based reconstruction
All-on-4, All-on-6 y All-on-10
A full arch reconstruction allows us to replace a complete set of upper or lower teeth, attaching a permanent denture to as few as 4 implants. This means not only regaining the function of your teeth (think of eating normally again!), but also the esthetics. No more removable dentures. The minimum we need to support a fixed prosthesis is 4 implants (All-on-4). The number of additional implants we will need will depend on the patient, the state of the bone and the restorative material, among others. Current bone grafting techniques make almost everyone a candidate for dental implants and full arch restorations. All-on-4 is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We offer many options starting as low as $5000 per arch.

Here is a list of why, if you can, you should avoid wearing dentures:
- They cover the palate, which affects the taste of food.
- They cause nausea because they have to extend backwards in an attempt to establish a seal.
- They only provide less than 30% chewing efficiency.
- Many times you cannot eat certain foods due to inefficient chewing and inability to bite down on food.
- Adhesive will most likely be required to help hold them in place.
- They do NOT help to preserve the jaw bone and eventually there may not be enough bone to support them.
- Lower dentures can be painful and VERY difficult to keep in place as the bone resorbs over time.
- You can and must remove them.
